The third leg of the Cayman Riding School Combined Training League took place Saturday, 11 March, with sunny weather and clear blue skies attracting a record number of competitors and spectators to the riding facility on Hirst Road, Savannah.
With almost 35 horses, either owned by the riding school or boarded by private owners, Cayman Riding School has expanded over the past few years and now offers riding lessons for both adults and children and boasts a specially imported riding surface in the main arena that ensures safer riding conditions for both the horse and rider.
“Whilst we have a lot of riders who want to compete – that is not our main focus,” said Tracey Surrey, owner and riding instructor at CRS. “We have riders who just like to come along, learn the basics and ‘hang out’ with the animals. So long as they stay safe and have fun – that is our main goal and we therefore feel it very important that we offer riding programs available to riders of all levels”.
Unlike other most other Equestrian competitions where horse and rider attempt just one equestrian discipline – the Combined Training Shows at CRS is a combination of a Dressage Test followed by a round of Show Jumping – whilst this proves more challenging – it does make for a more experienced and competent rider.
- Juliette Forrester and Apollo – winners of the 0.85m jumping phase
- Stephanie Lloyd competed on Lilly for owners Kirk and Megan Duval
- Kayla Godwin and Harry rode a fantastic round in the 0.85m jumping phase
