A life without sports

Aside from the health and economic concerns, just like every other sports fanatic out there, this COVID-19 pandemic is making life miserable. My usual escape from reality no longer exists. I channel surf whenever I get, checking ESPN, ESPN2, SportsMax, NBCSN, Flow Sports (all of them!), then I realise there are no live sports being shown. During the first few days of the lockdown life, I caught up on many sports documentaries that I wanted to see, so there’s that.
I’ve started watching old sports, like boxing’s Gatti vs Ward trilogy (if you’ve not watched those bouts, you should! You don’t have anywhere to go!). I found myself watching West Indies cricket and getting upset at a batsman’s poor shot selection. Then I remember that it’s an old game and laugh because my reaction was the same when I watched it live. Plus, the doctor has warned me about my blood pressure, so then it’s a case of so much for that.
I click on ESPN and Bleacher Report to check NBA standings but they haven’t changed in nearly a month.
“So, what do I do to get my sports fix?” I ask myself. Then it hits me that there are so many sporting stories that are begging to be told during this shutdown. So why not tell them? I know I put the buzzin’ on hold because I didn’t have the time but I should be able to find some time now, right?
That being said, I’m back again. Now, I’m not going to try to be here there and everywhere (well, you know what I mean). I have a fulltime job and a family. Here’s what we’re going to do, write when you’re in the mood, find stories that need telling and share them. How about also digging into that archive of images and videos and share them? Sounds like a plan.
With that, the Buzz is back! Hopefully, you’ll enjoy what we have to offer.
