Big rivalry headlines football weekend

The footballing gods have served up what promises to be an enthralling encounter when the top two teams in the Cayman Premier League standings meet on Sunday, 27 November.
First-placed Bodden Town FC squares off against Elite SC at the Ed Bush Sports Complex starting at 4:45 p.m.
Elite had been at the top of the standings for a large part of the seven-week old season with Bodden Town keeping pace. The squad from the historic capital seized sole possession of the top spot last Sunday with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Latinos FC, as Elite was upset 4-2 by Sunset FC.
“Elite is a big rival. That alone will get the guys pumped and ready,” said Bodden Town’s technical director Elbert McLean as he looked forward to a good week of training.
Both teams possess a lot of firepower. Elite’s Raul Rodriguez is the joint goal scoring leader, finding the back four times in the seven games. His teammate, Dwayne Wright, has three goals, as does Bodden Town’s Ricoh Brown. Ramon Sealy and Danner Taylor have also been solid for their teams between the pipes.
The teams met on the opening weekend (2 October) in a thrilling game, which Bodden Town took 2-1 thanks to a 90th minute strike from substitute Andra Allen.
Both camps have said they are looking at the bigger picture and completing the season but it’s hard to escape the excitement buzzing around Sunday’s game.
In other Cayman Premier League action on 27 November, Cayman Athletic SC meets Latinos FC at the Annex for a 4:45 p.m. kick off, followed by Roma United and Scholars International at 7:00 p.m. Academy SC and Sunset FC, both of whom are coming off impressive wins, will face each other in the 7:00 p.m. kick off at Ed Bush Sports Complex.
The CIFA First Division resumes on Saturday, 26 November, after a two-week break with two Premier League clubs fielding younger teams in the lower division.
An Elite SC side made up of players who haven’t been getting action in the top flight will open their season against North Side SC at Ed Bush Sports Complex at 5:45 p.m. Academy SC will send their Under-17 players out against Alliance FC at the Annex starting at 8:00 p.m.
In other 8:00 p.m. games, East End United meets Future SC at Bodden Town, while George Town SC travels to the Brac to face Cayman Brac FC.
In the Women’s Premier League, unbeaten Sunset FC faces Alliance FC at the Annex on Saturday, starting at 5:45 p.m. Meantime, Elite SC and Scholars International play a West Bay derby at Ed Bush Sports Complex at 8:00 p.m.
