Cayman set to host CFU U14 Boys
- Updated: 7 August 2018

The Cayman Islands will play host to a group of matches in the 2018 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) U14 Boys Challenge Series later this month.
The local side will face Bermuda, Cuba and the US Virgin Islands at Ed Bush Sports Complex in West Bay from 18-22 August.
On Saturday 18 August, Cuba and Bermuda open play at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Cayman Islands versus the USVI at 7:30 p.m.
On Monday 20 August, USVI and Cuba kick-off the day’s play at 6:00 p.m., with Cayman Islands and Bermuda scheduled to follow at 7:30 p.m.
The teams return to the pitch on Wednesday 22 August: Bermuda vs USVI (6:00 p.m.) and Cayman Islands vs Cuba at 7:30 p.m.
The Cayman side is coached by Lovane ‘Pelo’ Joven.
Twenty-nine teams from the Caribbean Football Union are playing in the month-long youth football festival at seven venues across the Caribbean.
CFU President Randolph Harris said the “Boys’ U14 Challenge Series will give much needed competition and provide the opportunity for Caribbean Member Associations to assess their youth development programmes, as well as referee development programmes ahead of future international tournaments.
“Following on the highly successful CFU Women’s Challenge competition in April, this series will also be a major fillip to future, strategic development initiatives moving forward. We are confident that this Boys’ U14 Challenge Series competition will redound to the benefit of the participants and football development across the region,” Harris said.
Most of the players competing this year are expected to go on to represent their countries at the CONCACAF U15 Boys Championships next year.
