Cayman women runners-up at softball tournament
- Updated: 7 September 2016

The Cayman Islands national women’s softball team finished second at the Nicaraguan International Softball Tournament in Miami over the weekend.
Entering the tournament as one of the perennial powerhouses, the Cayman women impressed on the diamond. They easily won their preliminary matches 18-3, 12-5, and a third by forfeit before advancing to the championship match.
In the final, Cayman was shutout 10-0 by Divas from Miami. Despite not winning the tournament, Cayman players nabbed two individual awards — Champion Batter was Molly-Ann Moore and Champion Pitcher was Ivy Taylor.
“Even though we didn’t win, the players felt good about their performances,” said Moore, who is also the president of the Cayman Islands Softball Association.
The men’s team did not fare as well, winning two and losing three matches.
