Cayman’s Olympics schedule

Cayman’s five-athlete delegation is aiming to do the country proud as they compete against the best athletes in the world at the Olympics in Rio.

Geoffrey Butler, who is making his Olympic debut is scheduled to be the first Cayman athlete to spring into action. Butler, 20, is set to swim the men’s 400m freestyle on Saturday, 6 August. His sister, Lara Butler, who is also competing at her first Olympics, enters the pool on Monday, 8 August for the women’s 100m backstroke.

Florence Allan is listed to compete in the women’s laser radial sailing event from 8-13 August.

The veterans of the Cayman delegation will be on the track. National 100m record holder Kemar Hyman is due to go under the starter’s gun in the preliminaries of the Olympic marquee event on Saturday, 13 August. Ronald Forbes is scheduled to open his third Olympics in the men’s 110m hurdles on Monday, 15 August.
