CIFA looks to deepen referee pool
- Updated: 7 April 2018

The Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) is offering a referees beginner course, as it seeks to deepen the talent pool of officials for domestic competitions.
The course, which runs 6-13 May, covers details of the 17 laws of the game, interpretation of fouls and misconduct, practical match management, and fitness techniques for the modern game.
“Referees perform a vital role in the global sport of football, ensuring safety, fairness, equality and enjoyment,” a message from CIFA stated.
“With the growth in football’s popularity, particularly among women and youth, the demand for match officials is always increasing,” it added, stating further that joining the ranks of the CIFA refereeing fraternity can be a gateway to the FIFA international panel of referees.
The course is free of charge and interested persons are asked to register by calling 926-1868 or by email to livie@candw.ky.
