The draw for the quarterfinals of the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) Men’s FA Cup has been set for Sunday 21 January, 2018 – the eve of National Heroes Day.
Future Sports Club and Academy Sports Club are drawn in the first match-up to be played at Ed Bush Sports Complex at 5:00 p.m. That game will be followed by Elite Sports Club taking on Cayman Athletic at 7:30 p.m.
At the Annex, George Town SC faces Cayman Brac FC at 5:00 p.m. followed by Scholars International vs Sunset FC at 7:30 p.m.
Sunset advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating last season’s FA Cup champions, Bodden Town FC in the opening round that ended with a tense penalty shootout in December.
In what’s seen as an upset, Future Sports Club beat Latinos FC 2-0 with goals from Maikel Ebanks and Cordell Andrade.
Cayman Athletic rolled past East End United 6-0 in the earlier match-up. Almando Forrester had a hat-trick, with two goals from Gary Whittaker and another from David Connolly.
Rolly Bodden’s 61st minute goal was the winner for Scholars International in a 1-0 triumph over Roma United.
Elite Sports Club beat North Side SC 3-1 with goals from Raul Rodriguez and Christopher Reeves after a Quwayne Ferron own-goal gave them the early lead. Guiton King scored for North Side.
George Town SC beat Tigers FC 2-0 with goals from Tex Whitelocke and Andres Ruiz. Raymond Jackson-Dilbert’s goal gave Cayman Brac FC the 1-0 win over Alliance FC.
Academy Sports Club drew a bye in the first round.
