Three Caymanian college footballers were injured during a shooting incident, while on spring break in California Monday, 20 March 2017.
Jamaal Seymour, Joshewa Frederick and Kevin Foster were taking a break from their studies at Northwest Kansas Technical College at the time.
Reports reaching CaymanSportsBuzz.com are that the young men, who are all members of the Northwest Tech Mustangs, were relaxing outside a friend’s home in Los Angeles when gunshots were fired in their direction. Initial reports suggest it was a case of mistaken identity.
CaymanSportsBuzz.com has confirmed the incident with relatives of the young men.
Foster, a defensive midfielder, was shot in the arm and might require surgery.
Frederick, a defender who recently accepted a scholarship to play at Division I Longwood University in Virginia, was shot in the foot. He is expected to make a full recovery and be back playing football in a matter of weeks.
It’s understood that Seymour, a freshman midfielder, escaped only with a minor injury from the incident.
They are expected to return to their campus in Goodland later this week.
CaymanSportsBuzz.com will bring more information as it becomes available.
