Forbes misses out on 110m hurdles finals
- Updated: 8 April 2018
Ronald Forbes, the Cayman Islands national record holder in the 110m hurdles, missed out on a spot in the finals of the event at the XXI Commonwealth Games after finishing sixth in his heat with a time of 13.88 sec.
“I went out there and executed to the best of my ability. I don’t have any regrets about it. I would have hoped that I could have lowered the time a little bit more than what it was,” said Forbes, who was competing in his second official race of the season.
“However, it was the best that I had on this day and I held nothing back. I raced to the best of my ability, regardless of what the results show,” Forbes told CaymanSportsBuzz.com after his race at the Carrara Stadium in Gold Coast, Australia on 9 April (8 April in the Cayman Islands).
He said he would have loved to be back in the finals, after making it to the medal race at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, where he finished sixth. “I’ve been there before; I know what it takes and unfortunately today, the time that I’ve run is not finals worthy,” he acknowledged. However, he said he plans to analyse his performance and improve as the season goes on.
CaymanSportsBuzz.com will have more reaction from Forbes and his plans for the future in a subsequent story.
