Goal-scoring frenzy

It was a busy weekend for goalkeepers in the CIFA Premier League over the weekend, as a whopping 32 goals were scoring in the six games on the schedule, including one that saw the defending champions being shutout in a four-goal loss.
In four of the games, six or more goals were scored; another featured four goals.
The only low-scoring affair was a 1-1 draw between Latinos FC and Sunset FC at the Annex on Saturday, 17 February. Ronald Hernandez put Latinos out front in the 28th minute before Peter Boda levelled in the 44th.
Also on Saturday, Roma United hammered Tigers FC 6-0 behind a hattrick from Kimani Finn (63’ 71’, 77’) and scores from Shane Ewart (27’), Zavian Williams (78’) and Delano Mitchell (90+2’).
Scholars International also dispatched North Side SC in a 6-1 rout on Saturday evening. Goals came from Rodrick Pearson (33’), Oneil Taylor (41’), Terrence Thomas (43’), Rolly Bodden (76’), and a pair from Brandon Ebanks (83’, 85’). Guiton King scored in the 37th minute for North Side.
On Sunday night at Ed Bush Sports Complex, defending champions Bodden Town FC were handed their second loss of the 2017/18 campaign, falling 4-0 to Elite Sports Club. Raul Rodriguez scored a first half brace (18’, 44’) with Dwayne Wright (59’) and James Ebanks (68’ PK) adding second half goals.
Meantime, in the early game at the Annex, Cayman Athletic downed East End 6-1. Brian Martin (6’), Jordon McLean (10’), Rico Bodden Jr (12’), Cody Ebanks (40’), and Javon Seymour (50’, 53’) were on point for Cayman Athletic, while Armani McLaughlin scored in the 87th minute for East End.
In the Sunday night game at the Annex, Academy Sports Club beat George Town Sports Club 5-1 with five different players getting their name on the scoresheet for the victors. Rohann Williams (7’), Romario Dixon (27’), Jermaine Wilson (52’ PK), Mark Ebanks (71’) and Jonah Ebanks (90+1’) found the back of the net for Academy. Junior Welcome (29’) scored for George Town.
