Goals, goals, goals!

A whopping 47 goals were scored in eight games played in the third round of the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) Premier League.
With no games being played on Saturday, 17 November, due to the CONCACAF Nations League game between the Cayman Islands and St Lucia, play resumed on Sunday with games also scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
It was safe to say there was no competition at the Annex on 18 November with a total of 23 goals scored by the two winning teams in the double-header. Kicking things off, Latinos FC trounced East End United 13-0 before last season’s runner-up, Roma United, put 10 goals past Tigers FC in a shutout. Dexter Sharp scored a second half hattrick for Roma, while Mathew Suberan scored twice.
Also on Sunday, defending champions, Scholars International, remained unbeaten, picking up their second win with a 4-0 triumph versus Sunset Football Club at Ed Bush Sports Complex. Raul Rodriguez scored a brace for Scholars.
On Monday at the Annex, Tex Whitelocke scored a stoppage time goal for George Town Sports Club to secure a 2-2 draw with Academy Sports Club. He had earlier found the back of the net in the 49th. U20 national player Trey Ebanks scored both goals for Academy.
At Ed Bush, Colby Seymour, Tevin Yen, Alexander Clarke, Anthony Bush and Raheem Orlando each scored as Future Sports Club picked up their second win in three outings with a 5-0 dominance against North Side.
On Tuesday, Cayman Athletic opened their season with a 5-0 win against Alliance Sports Club at the Annex.
The week was capped by an entertaining fixture between Bodden Town FC and Elite Sports Club in Bodden Town Tuesday evening. Elite enjoyed a 3-0 lead late in the first half thanks to goals from Dwayne Wright, James Ebanks and Christopher Reeves. Theron Wood cut the lead to two just before the interval. The national player added another in the 63rd before Andra Allen’s penalty in stoppage time saw the teams split the points.
There’s a full slate of matches this weekend. The Cayman Sports Buzz ticker scoreboard will be updated after each game.
