Greenies defeat Sol in exciting finish

An entertaining final-ball finish between Sol and Greenies in the Elite League on 18 February capped week three of the Cayman Cricket 2018 T20 season.
Batting first at Jimmy Powell Oval in West Bay, Sol stroked their way to 130 for four wickets off their allotted 20 overs. Opener O. Siddiqui, commonly referred to as Amla for his striking resemblance under the helmet to the star South African batsman, top scored with 58. Skipper Ramon Sealy added a solid 45.
Wicketkeeper/batsman Chad Hauptfleisch led the charge for the Greenies reply with 46. It came down to the last ball as Greenies reached 131 for the loss of five wickets. Greenies won by five wickets.
Greenies remain undefeated after three games. This was Sol’s first loss in their second outing of the season.
In the earlier game, Paramount scored a convincing 51-run win over Police led by national players Omar Willis and Conroy Wright.
Willis top-scored with 69 runs as Paramount reached 136 for six wickets of their 20 overs. Wright led the charge as Police were restricted to 85 for nine. The seamer took three of his five wickets in the final over.
Paramount picked up their first win in two matches, while Police slumped to their third loss in as many games.
In second-tier Super League play on Saturday 17 February, Chillies beat Greenies Too by five wickets. M. Walker top-scored with 31 as Greenies Too made 115 all out off 19 overs. (Jiman 3-21, Kumar 3-27). Demar stroked 71 not out as Chillies eased to 116 for five of 14.4 overs.
West Bay demolished Health City Challengers by nine wickets. Health City Challengers 63-9 (20.0 overs), *West Bay 64-1 (8.0 overs).
In the game on the Sister Island, Cayman Brac CC beat Cayman Colts by 18 runs despite an unbeaten 87 from Lucien Watson. Scores: Cayman Brac CC 188-7, Cayman Colts 170.
With the national team in Argentina for the ICC Americas T20 qualifiers against the hosts and Bermuda, there is no Elite League this weekend.
Meantime, there are three fixtures on the Super League schedule for 24 February: Paramount 2 plays Cayman Colts at Jimmy Powell Oval at noon, followed by Chillies vs Health City Challengers at 3:00 p.m. Cayman Brac hosts Tamilnadu at 10:00 a.m.
