Jr golf qualifying reaches mid-way point
- Updated: 19 January 2018

Junior golfers have reached the midway point of national team qualifying, after the latest round at North Sound Golf Club on 14 January.
In breezy and, at times, rainy conditions, a dozen youngsters put in solid performances as they sought to stake their claim for spots on the team that will represent the Cayman Islands at the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship in Jamaica in July.
In the Girls 13-and-under division, Lauren Needham and Holly Mclean both had good rounds with both finishing on 79.

Seven golfers competed for two spots in the Boys 13-and-under division, with James Bould leading the way with 86 and Andy Hastings with 90. Bould took an overall two round lead of three strokes over Hastings. Other scores were Todd Purton 94, James Rees 102, Sam Mclean 109, Matthew Rees 108 and Zach Garnett 108.
In the Boys 15-and-under division, Justin Hastings shot 76, Aaron Jarvis 78 and Tom Dickens 93.
The third qualifying round is scheduled for 3 February at The Ritz-Carlton. The best three of four scores will be counted to golfers’ final scores to determine who makes the team for the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship.
