Morgan qualifies for NAIA National Championships

Pearl Morgan qualified for the NAIA National Championships with a second-place finish for Central Methodist University in the 400m with a season’s best time of 59.00 seconds at the 2018 Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Championships last weekend in Crete, Nebraska.

The young Cayman Islands runner also earned Second-Team All-Conference in the event at the 9-10 February meet. Her previous season’s best time was 59.81 seconds on 3 February.

Morgan, a sophomore, was also named honourable mention All-Conference in the 200m with a fifth-place finish in 26.56 seconds. Another honourable came in the 4x400m, where she teamed up with Rachael Lipsey, Brook Van Voorhis and Theresa Zehnle for fifth-place in 4:13.52.

Central Methodist University women’s team finished ninth of 12 schools at the conference championships.

Morgan will represent CMU Eagles at the NAIA indoor nationals on the campus of Pittsburgh State University from 1-3 March. She’s also expected to be back on the track when the Eagles travel to Columbia, Missouri for the Missouri Open on 16 February.
