National Jumping Series Wraps Up!
- Updated: 14 November 2018

by Eve van den Bol, CIEF President
Equestrians and volunteers came out to the Equestrian Center on Linford Pierson Highway, to compete in the third and final leg of the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation’s National Jumping Series for the 2018 Season on 4 November.
Now that the Series is complete, Champions in each category will be named shortly.
Milly Serpell, who earlier this year was certified as an FEI Level 1 Show Jumping Judge, took on the judging duties.
Highlights of the day included double wins by Megan Swartz riding Fly with Me in both the 60cm and 70cm classes. The pair clocked the fastest jump off time of the day in the 60cm class, winning by almost 5 full seconds, a margin normally unheard of in show jumping. Gina Lomas also earned two blue ribbons, one in the 70cm Horse class and the other in the 90cm Horse class riding JR Booming Gun and Sunday’s Edition respectively.
Winners of each class were:
60cm Ponies Megan Swartz riding Fly With Me
70cm Ponies Megan Swartz riding Fly With Me
70cm Horses Gina Lomas riding JR Booming Gun
80cm Ponies Abbey Swartz riding Blue Ridge Dream On
80cm Horses Jessica McTaggart riding Nala
90cm Open Gina Lomas riding Sunday’s Edition
The Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation (CIEF) is the national governing body for equestrian sport in the Cayman Islands and is a member of the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI).
The CIEF holds four show jumping events and three dressage shows each year that are open to all equestrians in the Cayman Islands. The next equestrian competition on the CIEF’s calendar is the Cayman Leg of the Caribbean Equestrian Association’s 2018 Regional Jumping Challenge which will be held at the Equestrian Center on Sunday, 25 November starting at 8:00am.
