New teams hailed for their efforts

The effort put forward by Seafire and Deloitte have come in for praise from the Cayman Islands Flag Football Association (CIFFA). Those are the newest teams competing in the CIFFA Co-Ed League, which completed its latest round of matches on 7 April with some exciting games.

“Deloitte with one win so far and Seafire with none, have continuously surprised teams with how much they have improved throughout the season,” noted a release from the association.

“Seafire has come close to winning a few games but fell short. CIFFA always encourages new teams to register so that individuals can get a feel of the game that is vastly becoming one of the most popular sports on island,” it added.

Seafire and Deloitte were both on the losing end during the latest round of games. Results: Seafire (0) vs Popeyes (26) and Deloitte (13) vs Burger Shack (21). At 7:30pm was Dart (21) vs Cayman Auto (20) and CNB (12) vs Walkers (13). The night ended with Bogle Insurance (25) vs Go Flag Yourself (13) and Burger King (19) vs NCB Islanders (13).

The highlighted games of the night were Cayman National Banks vs Walkers and Dart vs Cayman Auto as, according to reports, both games were very intense with teams playing a very good offensive and defensive game. Both games ended with just one point advantage to the winners.

All teams have a bye week this weekend because of the Easter holiday. The league resumes on 21 April 21 at 6:30 p.m. The most anticipated game of the night is Uncle Clems Packers vs Burger Shack. Both teams have gone undefeated all season and this the first match up between both teams.

CIFFA acknowledged Simalee Ebanks (Bogle Insurance) and Brad Conolly (Walkers) for winning Female and Male Player of the week.

The association noted the league is rapidly coming to an end and that means that the Premier League will soon commence. Players interested in joining Premier League teams or want to submit a team (female or male), they are encouraged to contact anyone on the CIFFA board or visit the www.ciffa.ky.
