Cayman Islands national basketballer Samuel O’Garro starred for his German club in their season-opening win.

O’Garro scored a team-high 13 points for TSV Neustadt temps Shooters in an exciting 59-56 triumph over MTV/BG Wolfenbüttel in 2.Regionalia Nord-West action on Saturday, 24 September. His points came off 6 of 15 shooting from the field. He added six rebounds and four assists in his 35 minutes on the court.

The 6’4” guard, who recently helped SOL Blazers to win the Cayman title, spoke to CaymanSportsBuzz.com via telephone ahead of tipping off his second professional season with the club in the second tier of German basketball.

“I’m here to make the team better and to bring wins to the team. They look at me as an important part of the team,” O’Garro said.

He said he had been putting in extra time in the gym to strengthen his legs and build his stamina to produce better results on the court. He added that he’s also been focusing on delivering in high pressure situations.

“I trained really hard and want to improve my numbers and improve the team, too,” O’Garro said.

“This year, we have a good chance of winning the entire thing and moving up,” the Eckerd College alumnus told CaymanSportsBuzz.com.
