Pascal to compete in US championships
- Updated: 6 July 2019

Rachell Pascal, who won a bronze medal in the U17 javelin at the Carifta Games in April is set to compete against the 15-16-year-old top throwers in the United States when she competes at the 2019 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Championships from 7-13 July.
For the meet, athletes in the 15-16 age group will throw 600kg javelins, which is the adult weight. She is ranked 3rd of 58 competitors going into the meet. However, this will be the first time Pascal will be competing with this weight, as she is accustomed to using the 500kg javelin, the usual standard for her age.
Pascal was recently signed up to compete in the AAU by her father, Richard, who hopes the move will open her up to more quality competition in the United States next season.
With a top throw of 35.50 metres, the younger sister of national men’s record holder Alex Pascal, finished third in the U17 girls’ competition at the Carifta Games in April. That bronze was Cayman’s only medal at the games, which they hosted.
