Patterson tops podium at SAC Indoor Championships
- Updated: 22 February 2018

Cayman Islands athlete Nate Patterson topped the podium in the men’s triple jump for Wingate University at the inaugural South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships this week, as his team finished second overall.
The senior easily won the competition on 19 February with 14.89 metres he made on his second attempt after 14.07 metres on his initial try. His winning jump was nearly a metre ahead of second-placed Kristofer Potts-Howard of Carson-Newman (13.92m).
Patterson’s jump was short of his season’s best of 15.40 back in December.
He was also fifth in the long jump with 6.77 metres behind the winning distance of 7.21 metres from his teammate Andrew Spence. He was further down the field in the high jump, finishing eight with 1.70 metres.
Patterson is expected to shine in the triple jump at the 9-10 March NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.
