Records tumble at PSA track & field champs

Jaden Francis ran away with four records

Records were broken in great number as athletes took to the Truman Bodden Sports Complex on 7 December 2017 for the Private School Association High School Track and Field Championships.

In all, 17 records tumbled and a new one established in the Year 10 Girls 400m.

Leading the record-breaking charge was Carifta Games prospect Jaden Francis of Cayman Prep and High School, who established new marks for the Year 10 Girls 100m, 200m, 400m and as a member of her schools 4x100m relay team.

Other new record holders are Charlotte Kerr (St Ignatius Catholic School) Year 7 Girls 300m; Alex Bodden (Cayman Prep and High School) Year 7 Boys 1500m; Jaiden Reid (St Ignatius Catholic School) Year 8 Boys 200m; Neil Brown (Triple C School) Year 9 Boys 100m and 200m; Levi Superville (Cayman Prep and High School) Year 9 Boys 1500m; Cameron Sinclair (Cayman Prep and High School) Year 9 Boys Shot Put; Caleb McFarlane (Wesleyan Christian Academy) Year 10 Boys Shot Put; Ava Hider (Cayman International School) Year 11 Girls 800m and 1500m; and Dante Baptiste (St Ignatius Catholic School) Year 11 Boys 400m.

New marks were established in the Years 10, 11, 12/13 Girls 400m, Years 7-9 and 10-13 High Jump events.

St Ignatius Catholic School walked away with the overall title, edging Walkers Road neighbours Cayman Prep and High School (see story below).

Francis Kerr, Superville, and Baptiste were the individual champions in their year groups, with Francis and Baptise taking Victrix Ludorum and Victor Ludorum as the top overall female and male athletes at the meet.
