Sailors finish competition at Youth Worlds

The duo of Allena Rankine and Shane McDermot have completed their participation at the 2016 World Youth Sailing Championships.
Both took part in the laser radial event, sailing in nine races each as competition stretched over five days from 16-20 December.
Rankine finished 39th out of 47 competitors in the girls’ laser radial after having mixed results on the water. Her best finish came in the first race on Sunday, 18 December, with a 16th place finish. Her next best result was 21st place in the second race on Friday after being disqualified earlier in the day.
McDermot, 18, finished 43rd from a field of 57 boys in the laser radial. He had two top-25 finishes through his nine races, placing 22nd in the second race on Friday, 16 December, then 23rd on Sunday, 18 December.
In the Nations Cup standings, the Cayman Islands was tied with 18 other countries for 47th position.
The pair of young sailors were accompanied to Auckland by Cayman Islands Sailing Club coach Raphael Harvey.
