Sailors get going in New Zealand

Cayman’s athletes have completed their first day on the water at the 46th Youth Sailing World Championships in New Zealand.
In the Boys Laser Radial on Friday, 16 December, Shane McDermot sits 29th overall. He was 34th after the first race and improve his second time around with a finish of 22nd out of 57 entries.
In the Girls Laser Radial, Allena Rankin is 43rd overall out of 48 competitors. After finishing 38th in the first race, Rankin slipped to 46th the next time.
Racing continues on Saturday.
The young sailors are accompanied in Auckland by coach Raphael Harvey.
