Scholars International take control
- Updated: 26 February 2018

Scholars International have opened up a three-point gap ahead of Roma United atop the CIFA Premier League standings after emerging as the winner following their top-of-the-table clash on 25 February.
Roma United 0 – 1 Scholars International
A Damalay Howelle goal in the 23rd minute proved to be the winner for Scholars at Ed Bush Sports Complex under the lights Sunday night. The team coached by Colin ‘Dougie’ Rowe remains unbeaten in nine league contests this season. The only time they did not take full points this season was a 1-1 draw against Cayman Athletic on 22 October 2017.
With four games left on its schedule, Scholars has taken a distinct advantage over its nearest rivals in the standings. It was now beat the two clubs nearest in the standings – Roma United and Latinos – and has a game in hand.
Future SC 5 – 0 Bodden Town FC
Meantime, defending champions Bodden Town FC have found themselves in the unfortunate position of dropping their last two games by a combined score of 9-0. After a 4-0 loss at the hands of Elite SC, Bodden Town was upended by Future SC 5-0 on Saturday, 24 February. Denver Barnes (50’, 58’) and Courtney Duval (73’, 77’) each had a pair after Akeem Hydes opened the scoring (13’).
Latinos FC 2 – 2 Academy SC
Academy Sports Club came from behind on two occasions to secure a draw against Latinos FC. Nahun Rodriguez put Latinos out front in the fourth minute. It was not until the first minute of added time before the half that Academy equalised thanks to a finish from Finigan Huffington. Rodriguez got his second to put Latinos out front in the 84th but Jabari Campbell’s goal two minutes later meant each side took a point from the contest.
Elite SC 2 -1 Cayman Athletic
Elite SC won their fifth time in nine games with a 2-1 result over Cayman Athletic. Wesley Robinson (61’) and Dwayne Wright (77’) scored for Elite and Juwan Ebanks (90’) for Cayman Athletic.
Sunset FC 4 – 0 East End SC
East End SC 2 – 1 Cayman Brac FC
It was a week of mixed fortunes for East End SC, as they celebrated their first win of the season days after being handed their ninth straight loss.
Playing at the Annex on Wednesday, a hattrick from Stephen Tatum (3’, 32’, 34’) and another from Paul Hennessey (29’) saw Sunset FC through against East End.
In a meeting of the two clubs at the bottom of the table, Triston McField (1’) and Roger Webley (86’) put East End ahead before Marcus Scott (88’) put Cayman Brac on the score sheet. East End held on for the 2-1 win to take their first points of the 2017/18 campaign.
