Shooting Stars 3-on-3 is back!

The popular Shooting Stars 3-on-3 basketball tournament organised by Star 92.7FM is making a comeback after a two-year hiatus. The station announced that it has partnered with the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) for this year’s event on Saturday 29 July at Camana Bay’s Arts and Recreation Centre.

“The tournament in 2015 drew more than 20 teams and 100 local players. We hope with the noted collaboration of this year’s charity of choice NCVO that we will improve those numbers significantly, leading to positive competitive fun and much needed support for the NCVO,” said Star 92.7 Program Director John Watler.

“Star 92.7 created this tournament to allow an opportunity for the youth to celebrate the love of the game and to engage themselves in the community in a healthy, active way with the added benefit of raising funds for a chosen charity,” Watler added.

Shooting Stars will return as the official closing tournament for Camana Bay’s Mixed Sports Camp and Orlando Magic Basketball Camp. The competition is free and open to boys and girls ages 7-9, 10-12 and 13-15.  The tournament will run from 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on the 29th.

Star 92.7 expressed thanks to NCVO, Camana Bay, Watler & Hislop Services Limited, Rubis Cayman Islands Limited, Saxon Insurance, CUC, Cayman National Bank and the Cayman Islands Basketball Association for their dedication to the care, education and well-being of children and families in need of support in the Cayman Islands by staging the tournament.

“Mr. Collin Anglin from the Department of Sports has been instrumental in assisting Star 92.7 with proper scheduling and the organisation of official referees for the tournament. His experience and guidance has been fundamental to the tournaments success and we could not thank him enough,” Watler said.

Winning teams will earn gift bags stuffed with sport related goodies. For more information on sponsorship opportunities contact or call 943-3600. To register visit
