Spots up for grabs on national U20 women’s football squad

Top female footballers from the Cayman Islands born on or after 1 January 2000 are being given the opportunity to be selected to a national training squad ahead of FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers next year.
The first of a series of try-outs takes place this Saturday, 4 August at the CIFA Centre of Excellence Field in Prospect from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
“The new program is designed to be inspirational to our young ladies as a step further in their preparation to future serve the Senior Women’s National Team and with enough time and proper preparation, to perform successfully in the CONCACAF qualifiers that will be played next year,” explained Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) General Secretary Marcos Tinoco in a circular to clubs on 29 July.
The recently appointed Women’s Under 20 Staff led by Coach William Medina.
Other initial sessions will be held on 11 and 18 August at the same venue and time. Players must bring basic sports gears, shin-guards and football boots for artificial turf.
