Stroke and Stride is back

The Cayman Islands Triathlon Association’s annual Stroke & Stride is back. Presented by Jaguar Land Rover, the Stroke & Stride 3-series race will take place Wednesday August 3rd, 10th and 17th with a 5:45 p.m. start at Sunset House.

The event starts with a sunset, sea swim – the distance of which increases each week from 400 to 600 to 800 meters – followed by a 2 mile run through South Sound.

Individuals or teams have the option to register for one, two or all three races, so there are many ways to join in the fun.

In the first race, thee mixed team of Team Swipe finished first in 16 minutes 56.1 seconds, followed by the all-male duo, Team 345 in 17:19.7 and the mixed team, Team Ando in 21:36.9.

In the individual categories, Stuart Bray was the fastest overall in 19:43.7, with a tight race for second between Jamie Hughes (20:34.1) and Gregg Taylor (20:38.0).

Veronique Poirier was the first female to cross the finish line in 23:26.9, with Marie-Claude Poirier on her heels in 23:27.4 and Jane Hale the third female in 24:09.0.

TRAC Automotive and Jaguar Land Rover will be providing a free Park & Ride service for race participants from both St. Ignatius’ overflow car park and Bayshore Mall. Participants are encouraged to park at either of these locations to be transported to Sunset House for the races. Shuttles will run between 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. before each race, and between 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. after each race has finished.
