It was a busy weekend for Cayman’s junior golfers with some impressive performances in Florida.

The Hastings brothers, Justin and Andrew, completed in a two-day tournament at the Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, on 12-13 May, which was part of the IMG Junior Golf Tour.

Justin Hastings, won the 11-14 boys age group by 12 shots with scores of 2 under par 70 and even par 72, leaving him with an overall tournament score of two under par on a 6,355-yard course. Following the tournament, Justin was awarded the IMG’s U14 Player of the Year award.

Andrew, who was one of the youngest players in the same age group, finished in T9 place following scores of 87 and 81. Andrew was happy to see his brother come home as champion in his age group.

Meantime, just down the highway on the same weekend, the Jarvis brothers, Andrew and Aaron, competed in the FCWT Tour Open at Falcon’s Fire in Orlando, Florida, in the 15-19 boys age group playing on a 6,843-yard course.

They both finished Round 1 tied in second place, each posting a score of 2 over par 74. Aaron made a good run on Sunday by posting an even par round of 72, but came just one stroke short of forcing a playoff for the championship, and finished in second place with a tournament total of 2 over par.  Andrew had a tougher start to the day, but played some solid golf coming in and finished in 4th place.

The junior golfers have a very busy summer representing the Cayman Islands for both the national junior team and the national men’s team in various tournaments.
