Studenhofft’s four goals leads Athletic past Academy

It was a high scoring affair as Under-15 footballers returned to the pitch for the new year. Cayman Athletic won by a comfortable score line of 7-3 over Academy Sports Club on Saturday, 7 January.

In the first game of the 2017 calendar year in the CIFA U15 Boy’s League, Athletic started early with Syrus Conolly scoring in the 1st minute. It didn’t take long for Academy to equalise. Kameron Bennett scored on the 8th minute.

It was then that Studenhoft, who spent a week training at the Manchester City academy in November, got into the action. He found the back of the net in the 14th and again 10 minutes later to give Athletic the 3-1 lead at the half.

Academy’s Jaden Yearwood beat the keeper in the 38th to pull his side within a goal. Athletic would stretch the lead when Conolly and Studenhofft scored within five minutes of each other in the 51st and 56th to extend the margin to three goals.

Yearwood got a brace with another strike in the 65th minute but it was all Athletic, as Studenhofft, with his fourth of the game, and Jahrion Bodden scored in the 76th and 79th minutes to give Athletic the 7-3 win.

Sunset FC’s U15 boys had the week off. All matches in the U15 league are played at the CIFA Field in Prospect.

Studenhofft played with an Academy SC Select side in the Cayman Airways-sponsored U15 tournament last year. It was his performance during that competition that landed him the opportunity to train in Manchester City.
