Table tennis players eye improved showing at Island Games
- Updated: 27 June 2019

After a 9th place finish in Gotland, Sweden two years ago, the Cayman Islands Table Tennis Association is looking for an improved showing at the NatWest International Island Games XVII in Gibraltar.
Making the trip to the 6-12 July games is a six-player team, who have been training under the guidance of volunteer coach Oral Wiltshire. The team is: Leigh Hipkins (captain/assistant manager), Donovan Nelson, Wayne Haye, Wayne Alexander, Christine Isaacs, and Mary Jean Visto. CITTA President Robert Sairsingh is the team manager.
The Cayman Islands is grouped with Gotland, Shetlands, and Gibraltar for pool play in a competition that features 13 teams all with eyes on the gold medal.
Cayman Sports Buzz stopped by a training session to see how preparations were going ahead of what is expected to be some tough competition.
The CITTA thanks the following sponsors, who have combined to make it possible for the team to compete in the Island Games this year: Caribbean Alliance, Pinnacle Media, IT Outsource, Dominion, Titan Development, KB Associates, Baker Tilly, United Insurance Co, Bedell Cristin, Glen Trenouth, BCQS, EY, and Chris Johnson Associates.
