Tight competition in Co-Ed volleyball
- Updated: 3 April 2017

Leaders Deloitte, MaplesFS, Silver Wheaton, and PwC were the winners of week five matches of the Camana Bay Corporate Volleyball Co-Ed League at the Arts and Recreation Center on 29 March. Both Maples FS and Silver Wheaton were pushed to three sets by KPMG and CNB, respectively. Meantime, PwC and Deloitte had straight sets wins over Dart and Maples & Calder.
Results:
MFS d. KPMG 25-17 20-25 15-2
Maples FS and KPMG split sets before going into the third when MFS destroyed KPMG. For Maples FS, David Bakker earned 5 service aces, 2 kills, and 1 block kill at the net. Phillip Hinds made 2 service aces and 2 kills and Karlie Cross impressed again with 2 service aces and had the most kills of the night with three hard hits. KPMG had some notable plays by Deann Blackman with 1 service ace and Vincent Ebanks with 1 kill at the net. KPMG better fight hard in the last few weeks to climb up from their current seventh place position.
SLV d. CNB 13-25 25-23 15-13
The first set went to CNB easily, but Silver Wheaton fought back hard in a close second set to take them to the third, which they won in a close 2 point match point. Silver Wheaton saw Hosea Harris take 2 kills and Roy Ebanks earned 2 service kills. Andre Budylin also put some pressure on at the net with 3 kills and 1 block kill. For CNB, Quintin Mendez made 2 service aces, 4 kills, and 1 block kill at the net. CNB player, John Lewis, dominated his side of the court with 6 service aces and 5 kills. These two teams are neck in neck in the standings; if this is anything like their potential tie-breaker game, you better come watch and cheer on your favourite!
PWC d. DART 25-21 25-18
PWC managed a relatively easy win over DART in two sets, keeping DART last in the standings. PWC player Huga J van Rensburg earned 2 service aces and 3 kills, and Nyron Jones made 1 service ace and 1 kill. Let’s hope our hosts finish off the league strong in the next few weeks to make a comeback story.

D&T d. M&C 27-25 25-15
Deloitte took down Maples & Calder in two sets, although the first one was a close call between the third and first place teams. Deloitte player Nelson Still earned 2 service aces and 3 kills, Matt Oliveira made 5 kills, and Stephen Mitzel had 4 kills, making D&T hard to defend at the net. On M&C’s side, we saw Jonathon Corbett with 3 kills and Manuel Borden with 2 kills, 1 dig, and 1 block kill at the net. We are sure to see these teams in the playoffs.
