Top 5 finishes for Cayman golfers at Caribbean junior championships

Top Cayman juniors Justin Hastings, Aaron Jarvis, Holly Mclean and Lauren Needham posted top-5 finishes at the recently concluded 2019 Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships in Nassau, Bahamas.
Hastings finished two shots back of Puerto Rico’s Gustavo Rangel Badillo to finish second in the Boys 15 and Under Flight in the race for the Arturo Pellerano Trophy. Hastings posted a three-round total of 10-over par 226, with his best round of 73 coming on the second day of competition. He finished 11 strokes ahead of third-place finisher Rocco Lopez of Jamaica.
Meantime, Jarvis was third in in the Boys 18 and Under Flight competing for the James Moss-Solomon Trophy. He finished four-over par with a three-day total of 220. That placed him behind eventual winner Justin Burrowes of Jamaica (-2, 214) and Puerto Rico’s Andres Aranguren (+1, 217). Jarvis’ best performance came when he shot an even 72 during the second round.
Mclean finished fourth at 11-over par 227, one stroke behind third-place finisher Darianyz Guzman of Puerto Rico among Girls 15 and Under competing for the Kenneth Francis Trophy. Lauren Needham finished tied for fifth on 247, sharing that spot with Eryn Blakely of Jamaica.

In the Boys 11-13 Flight, Sam Mclean moved up one spot on the final day to finish ninth overall of the 10 golfers competing. He ended his first Caribbean Junior Championships with a score of 277, saving his best round for last with 89 on the final day.
Andrew Hastings and Todd Purton finished ninth and 10th, respectively in the Boys 15 and Under Flight. Hastings shot 254 over three days, while Purton scored 257.
Cayman’s other golfer in the boys 18 and Under Flight was Todd Purton, who finished tied for 12th with Rayaz Ramberan of Trinidad and Tobago on 272 strokes through three rounds.
Defending Champions Team Puerto Rico has won the prestigious Hank James Trophy at the 24-26 July competition.
