Two Cayman Islands female players have been signed to play football at South Georgia State College, the school has announced. Chelsea Green and Kamaria Whittaker will join the Hawks for the upcoming season.
South Georgia State College plays in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Chelsea Green
Green earned the “Golden Boot” as the leading scorer in CONCACAF’s first ever U-15 championship and was named to the tournament’s “Best XI.” Green continued her success as top scorer in the Cayman’s girls league and added a pair of goals as the Cayman Islands finished second in their qualification group in this past spring’s U-17 CONCACAF Tournament, the school noted in a release on its website.
“Her mother Jeannie Green and the Cayman Islands FA have been instrumental in helping Green move on to college soccer,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach, Dave Morris.
SGSC noted that Whittaker represented her country as a winger at the U-17 level. Her Scholars International team won the U-15 Cayman FA Cup, and she also played for the Cayman Select side coached by William Medina. Whittaker has dual citizenship and resides with her mother Ophia Smith in Florida.
SGSC begins preseason Aug. 7 and will open the regular season Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. against Daytona (Fla.) State College on SGSC’s Douglas Campus.
