Wray gets record and GCAC honours
- Updated: 25 March 2019

Cayman Islands runner Shalysa Wray was named Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week in women’s track for March 11-17.
Wray, in her freshman year at Xavier University of Louisiana, set a school record of 56.57 seconds in the 400-meter dash at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, La. That time also was an A-qualifying mark for the NAIA National Championships in May.
Wray finished fifth in the event and was faster than 19 NCAA Division I runners. She has qualified for nationals in three events through the first two meets of the outdoor season. The other events are the 400 and 1,600 relays.
Next for the XULA track teams will be the Southern Miss Invitational on 30 March at Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
