Cayman golfer wins US tournament
- Updated: 20 July 2020

Cayman Islands national golfer Aaron Jarvis won the boys overall title at the 2020 South Florida PGA Junior Open at The Naples Beach Resort & Golf Club. Jarvis was nine shots better than his nearest competition, shooting 71 to finish at 6-under 207.
He had a six-shot lead after 36 holes heading into the final round.
“The first two days my ball-striking was good and today it was my putting,” said Jarvis, a 17-year-old who works on his game at the Leadbetter Junior Golf Academy. “This is a nice win for me.”
His only hiccup Friday was a double bogey on the final hole he finished just before play was stopped for the second time.
“I didn’t mind the double just to get the round over with,” Jarvis said.
With the uncertain weather on the final hole, the last group literally ran down the 18th fairway after they tee off to finish the tournament before thunderstorms rolled in.
Earlier in the month, Jarvis, one of Cayman’s most talented golfers, finished tied for 11th place in the boys division at the 42nd Junior North & South Amateur Championship at Pinehurst, North Carolina earlier this month.
