Future SC extends 1st Division lead

A hat-trick from Mark Ebanks led Future Sports Club past East End United, as the West Bay club extended its lead over George Town SC in the CIFA First Division on 4 March, 2017.

Ebanks, one of the most feared forwards in the local game, struck in the 20th and 38th minutes at Ed Bush Sports Complex to give Future a 2-0 halftime lead. He added his third 12 minutes after play resumed. By the time Jermy Diaz Matute found the back of the net for East End in the 87th minute, the game was already in the bag. Future won 3-1.

The Future No. 9 registered his second hat-trick in as many weeks and has scored seven times in the past three games.

Meantime, an 87th minute goal from Brian Martin saw Cayman Brac FC coming from behind to share the points with second-placed George Town SC.

After four minutes, George Town was out front thanks to Hugo Madrid. Tex Whitelock scored for the fifth time in the past two games to double the lead in the 11th minute. Martin got his first tally of the night five minute later to keep the Brac within striking distance and Ebo Eccleston struck with the equalizer just before the half.

Serginho Sandy put George Town out front once again in the 57th minute. Though George Town flirted with ambitions of taking three points from the Annex, Brac FC and Martin had other plans, which came to fruition in the 87th minute with his second of the night. It ended 3-3, as George Town ceded ground to Future in the standings (see table below).

In the other game on Saturday, Alliance FC put on a goal-scoring display against Academy Sports Club to win 6-3. Javon Taylor registered a hat-trick with goals in the 29th, 41st and 57th minutes to lead Alliance. Paul McField II, Javier Medina and Cordell Andrade also scored. Nicholas Chung scored a brace in a losing effort for Academy, with the other goal coming from Trey Ebanks.
