Men’s basketballers in quarterfinals
- Updated: 28 June 2017

The Cayman Islands national men’s basketball team have advanced to the quarterfinals at the NatWest Island Games being played in Gotland, Sweden.
After a heart-breaking double-overtime loss to Gibraltar (108-105) on Sunday, the team rebounded strongly with dominant wins over Isle of Man and Isle of Wight.
The two wins came by a combined 82 points, thumping Isle of Man 112-56 on Monday and then downing Isle of Wight 84-58 the following day.
At the end of group play, Cayman finished second with a 2-1 record behind undefeated Gibraltar. They’ve won over many fans here due to their entertaining up-tempo style of play.
Next up is a date with Jersey in the last eight on Wednesday, 28 June. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (11:00 a.m. in the Cayman Islands). A win takes them through to the semifinals on Thursday.
Other quarterfinal match-ups: Saaremaa vs Isle of Wight, Guernsey vs Froya, and Gibraltar vs Menorca.
