Roma United undefeated after Rose’s brace

Roma United scored their second win of the season Sunday to remain unbeaten after two weeks of the Cayman Premier League 2016-17 campaign.

Roma United beat Sunset FC 3-0 in a testy match at Ed Bush Sports Complex in which seven cautions were issued.

The score was level at the end of the first 45 minutes before Roma took the lead in the second half. Mike Edwards put them ahead in the 61st minute. Peter Rose doubled the lead two minutes later and then extended it with his second strike in the 83rd minute.

Next up for Roma United, which has yet to concede a goal through two games, is Academy SC in a 7:00 p.m. match at the Annex on 16 October.

In the late game at Ed Bush Sports Complex, Latinos FC came from behind to save a point against defending champions Scholars International.

Scholars took the advantage early compliments a Jamar Dickens goal in the 20th minute. The score remained unchanged into the break. Latinos equalized when Jarol Smith Rizo converted a penalty kick in the 54th minute.

Latinos FC went down a player when Bob Connor picked up his second yellow card in the 69th minute. His first caution was in the 18th.

James Ebanks put Scholars International ahead in the 87th minute, only to be outdone by Jarol Smith Rizo, who scored his second in the 90th minute to bring the score level. It would end that way with each side collecting their first points of the season.

Latinos FC plays Sunset FC, who are win-less after two matches, at Ed Bush Sports Complex on October 16 at 4:45 p.m. Scholars look for their first win of the season against Bodden Town FC at the same venue at 7:00 p.m.
