Exciting play in latest PwC junior tennis tournament
- Updated: 6 September 2019

Spectators were treated to a great display of junior tennis at the fifth tournament of PwC Junior Circuit organised by the Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands and hosted by the Courts at the Ritz-Carlton.
Thirty players competed in Singles in the 10& Under, 14& Under and 18& Under as well as doubles in the 14& Under and 18& Under. Thanks to the great weather tennis was played throughout Friday and Saturday. The 10& Under played on the hard courts and the older competitors competed on the red clay courts.
The 10 & Under category was played in a round robin format where every player gets to play each other. Mico Samson took home his first ever title by winning all three of his matches.

In the 14 & Under Rafael Wejbora won the title against Phin Ellison 7-5 , 6-3. It was pretty hot out there but both players showed off some great tennis, commented Uli Hoppe, Tournament Director. Rafael had played in tournaments on the red clay in Austria during the summer, giving him the extra confidence in his matches. Third place went To Albert Berksoy who beat Josh Richardson 6-3, 6-3 and the 14& Under Consolation title went to Jay Jackson who beat Jake Fagan 6-3, 6-3.

Jake Booker was again the dominating player in the 18& Under and won against Lauren Fullerton in the final 6-3 , 6-2. Third place went to Zach Jackson who defeated Jakub Neveril in a tight match 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Jakub played a very entertaining match against Oskar Bjuro the day before where he eventually defeated Oskar 6-2, 0-6, 6-2.
Unfortunately Oscar couldn’t compete in the 18& Under under consolation final due to a shoulder injury, and therefore the title went to Willow Wilkinson.
After the singles matches the 14 & Under and 18 & Under competed against each other in doubles with Phin Ellison and Jay Jackson winning in the 14 & Under and Jake Booker and Zack Jackson winning in the 18& Under.

Uli Hoppe said, “we have seen some great tennis over the weekend.”
More exciting junior tennis to come at The Ritz – Carlton for the sixth and final tournament in the PwC Junior Circuit from October 4th -6th.
