Brown gets title in record-breaking fashion
- Updated: 5 March 2019

Cayman Islands hurdler Rasheem Brown entered his name into the record books, as he dominated the 60m event at the 2019 NAIA track and field championships that concluded on 2 March.
The freshman became Milligan College’s seventh NAIA national champion, as he clocked 7.81 seconds to break his own NAIA championship record on the way to winning the event by one tenth of a second.
It was the 18-year-old’s best ever time at this distance, breaking the championship record he set in the preliminary round, earning him All-American status.
“I’m really proud of Rasheem and the composure he showed for a freshman,” said Milligan head coach Chris Layne. “He had his sights set on running fast, and it was awesome to see that play out.”
This performance follows his Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) indoor title with a run of 7.96 seconds on 15 February.
