Three players won their first tournaments of the year during the 2018 PwC Junior Tennis Grand Prix #3 organised by the Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands from 13-15 April.

There was a great player turn out at Cayman Islands Tennis Club in South Sound, with six players in the 10& Under division, fourteen players in the 14 & Under division, and eight players in the 18 & Under division.

There were some newcomers in the 10 & Under division and the 18& Under included some who were home from boarding school for the Easter break. “This infused some very welcomed variety in the tournament, and more competition is something our juniors can definitely benefit from when it comes to achieving growth in sports,” said tournament director Ilean Nachev.

The results from the different age groups are as follows:

In the 18& Under age group, Harrison Clough, who is currently at boarding school in Scotland, defeated Lauren Fullerton 6-3, 6-3 to win the title. Alex Claybourn won 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in a battle with Cayden Stradling for the third place; both players are currently at boarding school in England. Jake Booker defeated Ricardo Douglas 6-0, 6-0 in the finals of the Consolation. To win the doubles, Alex Claybourn and Harrison Clough defeated Caden Stradling and Jakub Neveril 8-7 (10-6 in the tiebreaker). It was a great match with all players battling it out in an exciting tie-break.

Alex Priestley claimed the victory against his younger opponent, Rafael Wejbora, 6-4, 6-4 to take third place. Albert Berksoy and Rafael Wejbora teamed up to defeat Phin Ellison and Joshua Richardson 8-7 (10-2) in another close fought doubles match.

Albert Berksoy won the 10 & Under division.

The 10& Under division was conquered by Albert Berksoy, who defeated Milana Thompson 6-2, 6-2.
