Ebanks helps Thunder secure finals berth

Worthing Thunder advanced to England’s NBL Division 1 playoff final after a deserved 76-65 win over Loughborough Student Riders on 14 April, with Cayman Islands national player Jorge Ebanks leading the team in rebounds and assists, just missing out on a triple-double.
The Thunder battled back after finding themselves down ten points in the second half to take control of the contest.
“In the half-time team talk, I reminded the guys of their overall experience and what they have accomplished playing at high levels and how to use every inch of that going into the third quarter against a team that I feel can crumble under pressure,” said Coach Daniel Gayle.
“We were a little flustered in the first half and we let Loughborough play their game but when we came out for the third, we were dominant and we played to our strengths and even though not everyone scored, everyone played a vital role in this win.”
Ebanks, a starting guard, scored nine points on four of eight shooting from the field and led the team with 13 rebounds. He also dished nine assists and had two steals in 34 minutes of action.
After winning a gold medal with the Cayman Islands national team at the Island Games in Gotland last year, Ebanks looks for another title when Worthing Thunder travel to Manchester for the final against Hemel Storm on Sunday, 29 April.
