U19 basketballers hit the court

There were emphatic wins for Sol Blazers and WV Courage as the Cayman Islands Basketball Association U19 boys and girls 2018 leagues tipped off on 6 October.
Getting things started, Sol Blazers put on a show in a 71-30 rout against Clifton Hunter High School All Stars at the JGHS Gymnasium.
Tazmar Dawkins led the way with 24 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, seven steals and a block. Devontae Andrews added 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and 10 steals. Another major contributor was Alwin Buttrum, who scored 15 points, while grabbing six boards and dishing a pair of assists to go with eight steals on the defensive end.
Jaylin Johnson top-scored for CHHS All Stars with 23 points. Orlando Wellington was a beast on the boards with 17 rebounds to go along with five points, four assists and two steals.
The second game featured action from the girls league, where another Clifton Hunter High School team tasted defeat. WV Courage eased to a 52-23 win over CHHS Legendz. Lyandrea Watson scored 25 points, and grabbed five rebounds, while dishing three assists. She also had nine steals, tied for a game high with her teammate, Anika Moore, who was one steal away from a triple double, after scoring 13 points and taking 14 rebounds.
