Burger Shack regains form, Walkers dominant

CIFFA Co-ed league presented by Burger King resumed action last Friday, 17 March, with some great Week 4 match-ups at the Ed Bush Sports Complex in West Bay.
The first games of night were Burger Shack vs Maples and Popeyes vs Kirk Freeport.
After narrowly avoiding defeat two weeks in a row to Walkers and Bogle Insurance, Burger Shack regained their championship swagger by putting on an offensive show accompanied by defensive dominance. They cruised through the contest against Maples with some outstanding play by Terreh Ballard on offense and Shenel Gall on defense. But captain Perry Levy noted that he was happy to have his quarterback Kevin Solomon back in action, “We were clicking on all cylinders, it was good to have K-Solo back, I love my QB,” said Levy. Burger Shack won 34 – 6.
Popeyes vs Kirk Freeport was a much closer contest; coming down to the final play of the game, but Popeyes were able to hold off Kirk Freeport due in part to some impressive play by Jamal Dell and Shavelle McFarlane. Popeyes 26 – Kirk Freeport 20
The second games of the night were Cayman Auto vs NCB Islanders and Walkers vs Go Flag Yourself.
NCB Islanders and Cayman Auto was a defensive battle that yielded few scores, but in the end NCB prevailed due to some key plays by Brett Eden and Victoria Powery. NCB 20 – Cayman Auto 6.
Walkers showcased some fancy trickery as they confused Go Flag Yourself on a few scoring drives that left the defense trying to figure out what just happened. Go Flag Yourself seemed to catch on and settled in on offense in the 2nd half but it was too little too late as RaShaun Wright and Arleth Ebanks had already put the game out of reach. Walkers 30 – Go Flag Yourself 6.
The last games of the night were Burger King vs Seafire and Bogle Insurance vs Deloitte.
Seafire came to play as even though they were short on man power they came out firing and exploded in the first half with a couple of scores to jump out to an early lead. But Gary Rutty and Betsy Smith righted the ship in the second half for Burger King and mounted a comeback for the ages to take the lead. In the end, Seafire fell just short of scoring on the final play of the game and Burger King escaped with the win. Burger King 26 – Seafire 20.
Deloitte was without their starting QB and it showed as their offense struggled to score. Bogle insurance was doing well but had to overcome losing their starting QB to injury. And after sputtering for a bit on offense they got it together through some fantastic play by Rachel Van Beek and Rupert Whittaker to secure the win. Bogle Insurance 19 – Deloitte 6
